How Monster Trucks Started

Monster trucks are very special vehicles, and the reason is obvious, they are styled after pickup truck bodies. They are also modified, or sometimes built on purpose with wheels that are very large and has lots of suspension. They are also used for a wide variety of reasons, and some of these reasons are as follows, which does include being a popular form of sports entertainment to competition to being seen alongside other forms of events from motorcross races to mud bogging to tractor pulls to robots that do eat cars up. Monster trucks are used in monster truck shows to crush up smaller cars underneath its massive tires. Monster trucks also have the capability to go up and over most man-made barriers, as a rule, in addition.
A history about some great monster trucks does date back to the late 1970s, when modified trucks were first becoming popular, with sports such as mud bogging and truck pulls were bursting on to the scene. In April of 1981, Bob Chandler drove what is believed to be the first monster truck to actually crush cars, and this monster truck was called Bigfoot. Since this time, monster trucks have literally taken over, and have become an institution of its own to pop culture.

Some very famous monster trucks do include Grave Digger, El Toro Loco, Son Uva Digger, Mohawk Warrior, Maximum Destruction, Blue Thunder and Avenger. Grave Digger dates back thirty years and began with a red pickup truck as part of its story. El Toro Loco was created in 1981 and its driver was Lupe Soza. Son Uva Digger was created in 2010 and the driver is Ryan Anderson. Maximum Destruction was created in 2003 and some of its drivers do include Tom Meents, Neil Elliott, and Kreg Christensen. Blue Thunder was created in 2002 and driven by Dan Evans. Avenger was created in 1996 by Team Scream and driven by Jim Koehler.

The original Grave Digger was created by Dennis Anderson in 1982 in Morgans Corner North Carolina and its first major victory was against Bigfoot in St Paul Minnesota in 1986. There are now over 20 versions of Grave Digger and 6 drivers.

 

El Toro LocoMonster Truck El Toro Loco

The name means The Crazy Bull, and this truck was created in 2001, using a 3D body that was originally designed for Bulldozer. Its first driver was Lupe Soza and it now has various drivers including Becky McDonough. Its hometown is Aurora, Illinois.

 

 

Monster Truck Son-Uva Diggerson uva digger wheel stand

This truck – from Aurora Illinois – has been described as the next generation of the Grave Digger family. Featuring a bold purple mural design, it was unveiled in 2011 and is driven by Ryan Anderson – son of Grave Digger's Denis Anderson.

 

 

mohawk warriorMonster Truck Mohawk Warrior

Hailing from Aurora, Illinois, this truck made its debut in 2010 and has a distinctive jet black, razor sharp mohawk. Its driver is George Balhan whose signature mohawk inspired the design of the truck.

 

 

Monster Truck Maximum Destructionmaximum destruction

This truck – also known as Max D – is owned by Tom Meents. World Championship Wrestling was involved in its original design and the truck made its debut in 2000 under the name of Goldberg. In 2003 the wrestling connection ceased and the name changed to Maximum Destruction

Blue Thunder is sponsored by Ford and is used for promotional purposes as well as competition. Based in Aurora, Illinois, it debuted in 2001 and was then driven by Lyle Hancock. Since then it has had various drivers – currently Dan Evans.

 

 

Monster Truck AvengerAvenger

This truck was created by Team Scream Monster Trucks in 1996. Based in Columbus Michigan, its driver is Jim Koehler who is nicknamed Mr Excitement due to his daring and energetic driving style.
